Jimi Hendrix Part 2

Description

0-0:17 Jimi brings in the all time classic closing the show with Vodoo Child.  He starts to build the emotion like he always does so well; it starts of in a still postion gathering a tsunami of wickdness getting ready to crash on the poor defensless souls who have never encountered such a legend.

0:17-0:32  Being a guitar nut I noticed immediatly after the intial explosion that his guitar is out of tune, ESP when you hear him play chord shapes, but when he hits the single notes he still allows them to soar beautifully.  Knowing Jimi's music one can get upset that he's out of tune or one can respect the fact that he can play something with so much convviction he still gets the message across.

0:33-0:55  At this point you notice a couple things that are very unique to this individaul performance.  First he's clean shaven so there's a sense of youth or revival to his look.  Also, something I am pretty upset about and I'm sure his wife is as well, there is some kind of cigarette or joint looking thing he has put between the strings on the head of the guitar.  Maybe this is one of the tools to his Utopian ideology.

1:04-1:08  There is this moment of higher power while Jimi chants the words of truth, the camera zooms out only to create a shot of a blue light from the distance focusing on Jimi, while there is a man in a shade of red next to a photographer capturing the moment.  In some sense of sepcualtion you can take this moment as the trinity withing music, and the man in the red the oppostion.

1:16-2:32  This is where Jimi clealry leaves his body to somewhere else.  There is this intial moment of Jimi playing like a virtuoso, but then all of the sudden he starts making sounds and faces with his eyes closed to where it is beyone music, something is happning.  To the techincal guitar guys liking it's somewhat of a train wreck, but to the common listener you are blown away literally with the amount of conviction this man carrys.

2:34-3:20  A really cool part of the whole video, you get to see the viewers and how they our expirencing, the expirence.  Some of them just lose control just like Jimi and they start to shake, some try to keep up with the beat, and some are in a state of ponder trying to wrap their minds around what is happening.

3:20-3:58  This is when the curtains and stage get set aside, it's time for Jimi and his wife to get it on, and yes I literally mean feet of the ground love making.  He puts her between his legs and goes to town only to climax as he backs up towards the amplifiers, when he finishes round one he slowly comes back to this world.

4:00-4:29  This sloppy arppoach comes back again he is literally just lost in the moment beyond words he loses you and me.

4:30-4:50  Can't really explain what is going on.  Every one is so into it either the camera man is a fool and drunk or he's so into it to that the whole place starts shaking and he forgets his job at hand so he like Jimi leaves what he is doing to let the music take over.

4:50-5:28  It starts this shot of this one woman who seems to be strangley still and into it, then the camera flows over a crowd of the usuals Jimi surronded himself with, junkies, stoners, and acid heads, it is clear that everyone is either on drugs, or the music has gotten them high.

5:29-6:16  The camera man keeps going to the bass player to show you that it's not the normal bass player someone is subing in for him.  Also theres a moment towards the end of this part of the jam where Jimi keeps repating I didnt mean to take up all of your sweet precious time, but the crowd reminds him the love it. Right at the end though Jimi messes up when hes turning the jam and the drummer goes elswhere by Jimi's msitake.  Kinda hurts after all this time knowing they don't have those cues down perfect.

6:17-6:54  This is where its sweet as butter, it all comes back and it's the song we all know he hits everything perfectly.

6:54-7:20 Jimi has round two with his wife, and the two human girls in front of him loe whats happening I mean they love it.

7:20-7:30 some random guy in front of Jimi keeps fixing his hair constantly, something about this is strange to me, its beyond needed in the shot and your front row at a Jimi show who the hell needs to keep fucking with there hair.

7:30-8:00 Jimi trys things he has never heard before but does them so professionaly you again think its all apart of the grand plan.

8:01-8:20 Jimi starts the song over again as a goodbye, also you focus on a shot of him, his wife, and his wedding ring.

8:30-9:15  He goes back into trance and looses everything, goes out of tune, hit scrazy notes, and even gets made at his wife and hit the mic stand with her

9:15-9:22  He gracefully smiles and brings it to a close, honestly with the mistakes and the good parts I think this video does so much justice to the one and only Jimi Hendrix

Coverage

Breakdown of the Video Breakdown For the most part, I noticed a whole lot of spelling mistakes, which, to me personally, I think gave character to the entire breakdown; as if he just got so into writing this that the use proper spelling and grammer didn't matter anymore and it all just become a whole textual jam. Comparatively, I think this actually plays with the dissonance that Jimi makes on his guitar at certain parts in his sets, and this is generally where Jimi had much of his dissonance. Sherwin may have just gotten very into the music. Now to go into the specific blocks of time that Sherwin takes into consideration and he better not have any problem with it.

0:33-0:55 I like how he takes a look at Jimi, but maybe he doesn't hit the nail on the head. Maybe Jimi had big date or his girlfriend got tired of his crappy goatee, and so he actually just hd to shave. It maybe he was just incredibly itchy, and if your on that much acid, which may possibly be the reason for the handband on Hendrix and Mitchell's headbands that they wear on stage.

1:16-2:32 I feel like if there was going to be this theme of his wife, being as the guitar itself, there have been some kind of allusion to this act virtuoso guitar playing as something as a sort of marriage, or a birth of a beautiful love child, possibly named gypsy, sun, and rainbow, the band that he played with at Woodstock. Coincidentally, this works both ways for the reason that Billy Cox is the bassist for this set and he was also a part of Band of Gypsys.

4:50-5:28 Around this block we start to get into crowd shots and I feel like something more could have been said about that show. Maybe somthing along of maybe why people seem to feel the need to do drugs at an event like this. Obviously at around 5 minutes in there is just a still shot of this kid and he is just muching on something, possibly his cheeck. Maybe he's not on drugs. Maybe he just feels the power of the music and it gives him this aching anxiety of the moment. Or maybe he is on acid and he is having a hard time keep up while being scared to death of the dissonance that Jimi is making on his guitar. Towards the end of this we hear Jimi say, "Gotta start smoking, I mean, cigarette smoking." This is clearly a word to his audience, his people. Maybe he could be soothing, or just letting them know that he doesn't mind if they don't mind. and thats what I got.
