The Simpsons Video Breakdown

Description

0:00-0:07 Some kind of odd intro. Brings to mind the lack of legitimacy and legality of this clip. Oh well, it's one of the few I could find that what the right length.

0:08- 0:21 Jumps in on the middle of an episode. A bit odd, the title says full episode but that's definitely not right.

0:22-0:53 Homer shows off his characteristic stupidity by going on a big speech about the wonders of opposite land. Reminiscent of the way a child might act in this situation, which is rather ironic because the child in the scene is acting like the parent, which is not an uncommon occurrence on the show.

0:54-1:08 Bart listens to his portable tape player, which tells us this must be one of the older episodes of the Simpsons, which I wouldn't have guessed based on the crisper art style. It's also a bit funny that technology ages in the Simpsons, but the actual people themselves never do. Just one of those many inconsistencies... kind of how Springfield has a seemingly different lay out in every episode. Oh the wonders of cartoons.

1:09-1:19 Just had to point this hilarious scene where Homer acts the “typical American”, and thinks everyone should speak English in America. I also find it fairly relatable because I find it very easy to forget everything I've learned about Spanish even after having several classes in the subject.

1:10-1:59 I love how the Simpsons pokes fun at everything, from a gay pilot relationship to Brazil. Classic Simpsons.

2:00- 2:23 Lets include soccer in that last point too.

2:24- 3:01 Ahh the simple family life. Dad sips on a beer while the kids watch a strangely erotic kids show.

3:00- 3:30 A nice creative look at the slums. Also makes fun of the typical American view of ignoring problems in the world, while doing it themselves.

3:31- 4:02 I feel like I've missed something... who is Ranoldo? Maybe this is part 2 of an episode? They should have specified...

4:32-4:50 Don't get in an unregistered taxi! Step one of going to Brazil. Nothing quite so funny as seeing Bart walk casually away while Homer remains trapped. Not quite the disrespect of the really old episodes of the Simpsons, but funny regardless.

5:20- 5:39 No show is complete without a completely inappropriate man who isn't doing his job. A little extreme, yes.

6:07 Ha! $1200. Reminds me of my bank account trying to work and go through school. At least I'm not the only one with just enough to pay rent. Actually even though it is meant to be funny this is one of the moments of the Simpsons that probably rings true for quite a few Americans.

6:08- 6:27 Oh the gluttony of Homer Simpson... I'm actually a little surprised he only ways 238 pounds (I think that's what it is, it says in one episode).

6:28-6:32 I already know that this will end poorly...

6:47 Good decision Homer... actually for Mr Burns typical standards that was an incredibly generous thing to do. He's really gotten soft over the years... Maybe a reason why a lot of people think the Simpsons has gone down hill and don't watch it any more. Those aren't true fans though...

6:49 Pausing at this point I'm just waiting for Bart to ask for someone with a name like Amanda Hugginkis, or Mike Rotch. Unfortunately it will probably be Homer asking for money from Moe, which is also laughable, let us see how he reacts.

6:50-7:02 Haha!! That took a totally different turn than I expected! And what a great turn it was, classic. Just an example of why the Simpsons is a great show, quality to humor without having to resort to crude and sexual jokes all the time. *cough * family guy.

7:03-7:13 Great come back

7:14-7:36 I love that! The show is drawing attention to the fact that it's a show be showing us how different music can drastically change the feeling of a situation. Very true too. You immediately relax when the light hearted music comes on. Having almost been a music major, I can appreicate this very much in a show.

7:36-7:54 I almost wish that they would have kept this a serious moments. Comedies that aren't afraid to get serious sometimes make much more interesting shows in my opinion.

7:55-8:05 And now they explain it! Stockholm syndrome. Yes it is an exaggerated example, but still better than no explanation at all.

8:06- 8:24 And back to poking fun at Brazilians, of course the occasoinal jokes on Brazilians are nothing compared to the almost constant jokes on Americans, which makes it okay to make fun of others (joking?)

8:25- 8:51 fortunately this is cartoon, because I don't think that was exactly survivable. Who knows though, we live in a world where a man can free fall from 128,000 feet and live to tell the tale. Granted he had a parachute.

8:52-9:06 Much like the government and our “wonderful” past two presidents. Perhaps this episode wasn't made so long ago.

9:07-end Didn't quite get the reference but I'm sure it was supposed to be funny. Good ol' Simpsons.
