(0:00-1:23) Marilyn Monroe was staying with Amy and Milton Greene in 1955. Milton Greene was her photographer and best friend; these two had a special relationship. How far does this friendship go? How far does his wife let this friendship go? Marilyn talks so carefully and slowly, I thought I might combust and yell “Hurry up and do the damn interview!”
(1:24-2:03) This is just a normal interview with normal people in an awesome kitchen…Not. Milton just seems to think “let me just stare at Marilyn the whole time while my wife sits between us.” I like how Amy throws an arm towards Milton possessively, and Marilyn hardly makes eye contact with neither of them or even the camera during this section. Hiding something Marilyn?
(2:04-2:30) Amy is asked about Marilyn….I don’t know face Marilyn had when Amy responded, but I assume it’s the “stank face.” She quickly remembers to stay calm, cool and collect, and plasters that smile on her face. Milton cups his hands around his like a child with a crush.
(2:31-3:38) Amy decides on a change of scenery. Maybe the kitchen chair was uncomfortable, or maybe she was tired of witnessing her husband drool over Marilyn across the table. Milton realizes his ignorance and quickly goes to the side of Amy rubbing her shoulders. Awkward moment? I’d say so. Milton seems a little flustered when answering his question….alot of ums, uhs, and forced laughter. He’s probably no staring at my mistress just quick glances.
(3:39-4:15) Marilyn gets asked a question, and she seems pretty happy to answer. Very careful with all her answers, seems to be good at telling people what they want to hear.
(4:16-4:31) And it’s quickly back to Amy, while Marilyn is wondering “isn’t this interview about me?” Amy says “I take care of Milton who is very important, and josh...(short awkward pause)…and Marilyn.” I’d say she is pointing out to the world and to the two lovebirds, she’s still the wife and he’s her husband. After the awkward pause the way she said Marilyn, there is a little bite to her voice.
(4:32-5:45) Marilyn looks at the floor while answering her question. Milton jumps up to distract himself, and turns his back while Marilyn is talking. He’s still making sure he doesn’t stare at her like a love-struck puppy, but instead decides he needs a smoke to calm himself. When she says “umm” is a flirtatious way, Milton does an awkward oh my gosh laugh. After this, Amy quickly positions herself with her back to Milton and arm holding the back of the couch, intentionally separating the two and moving away from Marilyn.
(5:46-7:30) Marilyn gets her revenge by not mentioning Milton’s name when asked who has contributed to her career. Amy gives a knowing look to Milton, and Marilyn seductively sits.
(7:31-8:29) She says she can pass without recognized, and the interviewer throws the ball to Milton. He’s still a little pissed for not being mentioned as a contributor so he just looks at the ground and gives a half ass answer.
(8:30-8:51) Amy comes in for the rescue for her husband, and happily gives the opposite answer of Marilyn’s.
(8:52-9:52) Before the interview ends, I felt like Amy and Marilyn went into a petting competition with the dog. Marilyn’s affections towards the dog seemed to win…What does this say about her secrets?
